Characteristics of the Early Church (Acts 2:14-47)

1. God's Word is proclaimed - Peter addresses the gathered crowd at Pentecost, directs them to listen carefully to what he has to say and then clearly proclaims the Gospel.

2. Need is Acknowledged - The people who heard the Gospel were "cut to the heart" because they recognized their sinfulness and need for a savior.

3. Baptism - The people repented and were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

4. Discipleship - The converts devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostle's, development of maturing Christian relationships, celebration of the Lord's Supper in the regular "breaking of bread" and to prayer.

5. Awe, Wonder & Miracles Experienced -They were filled with awe and the apostles did many "wonders and miraculous signs."

6. Stewardship - They sold possessions and goods and provided for those in need.

7. Worship -They continued to meet in the temple courts and they also met in homes to praise God.

8. Growth - "the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
